Cork/West Cork/Killarney

This morning we head to West Cork and onwards to a beautiful little church (Oratory) at Gougan Barra. This is where St. Finbarr the patron saint of Cork first founded a church where the river Lee begins. We may be able to have Mass here. There is tremendous scenery and will require a little walk by the guests to get to it. It is now a very popular wedding venue because of its beauty. After visiting here we continue to the southwest and travel along the Atlantic coast through the villages of Glengarriff (Maureen O’ Hara spent much of her later life here and was once president of the local Golf Club (The Quiet Man actress). Continue over the Caha mountains through beautiful scenery and the town of Kenmare and via the very last section of the Ring Of Kerry and probably the most beautiful part from Molls Gap lady’s view and panoramic lakes of Killarney where we will stay for one night. Here the guests will get a chance to experience what life is like in the town which has been christened the capital of Ireland’s tourist industry. (B,D)

We can stop in Dingle town, a famous fishing village with many fine pubs and restaurants serving fish and fish soup (chowder) It is also famous for a resident by the name of Fungi, a dolphin who visited and never left. After lunch we head inland and north through the Golden Vale and deeper into the province of Munster to the city of Limerick where we will overnight.
